Creative Blog: SuperFriday Newsletter
By: SYBC Admin
Hey it's another Creative Blog! This one covers the mighty SuperFriday Newsletter! Find out about
the history about our primary newsletter, and how it's become an important tool for communications and a link to creating community for SYBC, and
the reader.
Where did the SuperFriday Newsletter come from?
Belive it or not. Really around the start of 1998 unofficially! It was idea to make The Friday Night a
actual newspaper. The newsletter was going to be a way to let people know about SYBC (I always called Schoolyard SYBC or SBC back then). It would of
just been The Friday Night newsletter. I worked on various iterations during 2013 and forward. The final iteration began in 2023. So it's always been
a experiment that was ready to be evolved as time went on.
Wow! That's fascinating!? So this has been in the making for a while?
Correct. I had decided to make it more for Schoolbrary in 2013, but then decided to create a newsletter for
more the main Schoolyard items.
That's a lot of tinkering around for that right feel.
Yeah. I had used a third party newsletter service. It was ok for the time. Once I really got a better handle on
my website platform, I was able to create a better newsletter. The service went away, and now we have even more control of the distribution. So this has definitely
been a very experimental project to get the right sense of aesthetic. I do miss my tiny set of email list. But I'll work to get that back up with larger numbers!
(laughs)
Yeah. Gotta pump those numbers! (laughs)
(laughs) Yeah we do. That's what SuperFriday is here to do. Is to connect the community chain from us to the readers.
Not really to create a fanbase, but to create an actually set of people who truly would care for the "culture" of Schoolyard, and it's platform.
So we must continue to build upon that. It's a everyday thing to do. But it must, and will be acomplished. The
newsletter is a very important tool in connecting the dots in those results. Something interesting is I've always thought about how The Friday Night would be the
key in the early years of Schoolyard to keep anybody interested in what we're doing.
Yeah. Keeping people connected is really key.
Because it keeps our purpose strong. It keeps what we're doing as an important endeavor. We want Schoolyard to be a
product destination for many readers and beyond. So SuperFriday is a key for that. To keep people informed about what we do. I would hope that's what it's doing.
Because we're putting our heart and soul into these everytime. Yet I know it could be a bit intimidating too. Because nobody understand who these characters are.
But that's the point in making things as easy as possible to understand our heroes. Our Projects. Our ideas. Things we want to share.
That's the power of The Friday Night.
Yeah. Schoolyard wants to always communicate about our projects and products to be imporatant. Because we're really
here working hard to create unique worlds and experiences. SuperFriday is one way to share that spirit with whomever consumes the works. I know that many Creatives
are out there to get attention. I always applaud that. Because Schoolyard loves art. Yet we too have to "get the word" out for what our creations hold as well. And
has been one of those important pillars for the platform. I hope more people can enjoy a slice of Friday Night news, and like you said: Get to pumping those numbers
up! (laughs).
