Book crafting. The creative process of creating a Schoolyard publication in an effective manor. Creating a book is just more than putting content on a page. It's trying to create an unique way of telling something interesting. Giving you an fantastic journey while you are in the mood to read a Schoolyard product. From planning, to the final print. Schoolyard uses book crafting as a way to finally get products out in a timely and impactful manor. And the beautiful thing about the book crafting process, it applies to everything Schoolyard Company does. Gorbo, Refrigerator, and all.


Design is part of the DNA in Schoolyard's art decisions. So a book isn't just simply made. Well sometimes they are. But they are designed to the end. More books and other things will be book crafted in the near future and beyond. This clears out many bottlenecks that have been an problem in the past with projects. Book crafting ensures that many Schoolyard works are able to find their way to the respective end point. Many stories are delivered in various formats, besides the printed word. Book crafting works extremely well with digital content. The marriage of digital and physical is truly the new world for Schoolyard, and it's divisions. More on that on another blog post.


Schoolyard seasons are one of the reasons book crafting is very important. Each session is three months long. These can fly by very quickly. In the past, they seem to be not a issue. Less products to produce, and design. Now that more products are needed, book crafting makes the need for more products to be made within the three months during each session.


For many years, Schoolyard had to always find a way to create a pathway to a successful idea. Many cases, it's a difficult work. Trying to adjust, and tinker on what may, or not work is key. Trial and error is a true teacher. As time continues to add more to Schoolyard's eco system, book crafting is going to become the standard in developing works in the present, and future. Not only just in the design of the book and products. But in the way, you are given said product. The marriage of design and business will have to take care of their baby, fleeting technology infrastructures.
